Reading-Themed Valentine’s Day Bookmarks – Freebie

Can we talk about how Valentine’s Day manages to sneak up on me every single year? I’m not even sure how because, it’s like time hits the brakes between winter and spring break. Between battling constant sickness, rearranging lesson plans due to snow days, and my never ending desire for more sunshine, it’s no wonder I find myself a bit on the grumpy side this time of year.

You would think when time seems to move at a snail’s pace I would be on top of things. However, every year, like clockwork, I drop the ball on being prepared with valentines for my students. Seriously, every year I seem to glance at the calendar, it’s February 13th, and panic sets in. The mad scramble begins to find something, anything, for my students. And when you’re a reading specialist handling 50 to 75 students a day, the cost of multiple boxes of valentines or treats for each one can add up quickly.

So, here I am, this year – yes, you guessed it – coming up with a brilliant plan at the last minute. I decided to whip up some reading-themed Valentine’s Day bookmarks. And believe it or not,  I had this lightbulb moment on February 9th, not the usual eleventh hour of February 13th. 😆

Now, I’m not one to keep good ideas to myself. I’m sharing these bookmarks with you, giving you a quick, easy, and budget-friendly option for valentines in your classroom. This FREE download includes four cute bookmark designs:

1. Read your heart out!

2. You’re #1 in my book!

3. Happy Valentine’s Day!

4. I’m Read-iculously glad you are my Valentine!

And the best part? You can print them in color or let your students unleash their creativity by opting for the black and white version they can color and decorate.

These bookmarks come four to a page, and for the price of a few pages of cardstock, you’ll have a simple yet thoughtful Valentine’s Day gift for your students. Every time they mark their place in a book, they’ll be reminded of you.

Now, spill the beans in the comments – what’s your go-to way to shower your students with love on Valentine’s Day?
